As the lead of the RTPI London CPD Committee – RTPI London Management Board, Dr Roudaina Alkhani has been working with other committee members on developing and organising a series of reflective and technical planning events, focusing on crucial and timely issues in planning and sustainability. These events, functioning as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, address topics related to planning content, governance, and processes, aiming to improve future planning and planning practice..
The sessions will focus on:
– Planning reforms, particularly the implications of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, as well as opportunities and challenges related to Strategic Planning and the new Spatial Development Strategy (SDS).
– Innovative forms of proactive community engagement in planning sustainable places to deepen social, economic and sustainability values, and their role in city adaptation and renewal.
– Innovation in planning processes with a focus on the role of digitalisation in ensuring more synergy and value in local planning review processes and in supporting decision-making and collaboration.
The events highlight the crucial, leading role of planning and the RTPI in creating sustainable and thriving places and fostering an interdisciplinary dialogue, complementing other RTPI initiatives.
The events aim at initiating an interdisciplinary dialogue. They welcome RTPI Members, and the built environment and other interested professionals and academics.
