Client: Saudi Green Building Forum – 2016
Our proposal for a Sustainable Development Strategy for the City of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, submitted to the Saudi Green Building Forum emphasised the power of strategic planning for supporting Riyadh’s development as a city balancing economic growth with inclusiveness while respecting the environment. A particular focus was placed on the city’s North-South balance, green space, heritage, opportunities for youth and women, and adapting the public realm to climate conditions. Our pioneering strategy prompted awareness of the importance of leading sustainable urbanisation, expanding the focus from the building scale to embrace the entire city.
At the same time, we aimed to capitalise on ongoing green building and sustainability efforts and current infrastructure projects, in particular those involving the communities.
